Well as many of you know we are expecting our first baby in August!!! Back in March we had a gender reveal party to tell our friends and family if it was a boy or girl. I had tons of fun coming up with the games and decorations... but it was SO hard not to let it slip which gender it was!! If you are expecting, I highly suggest doing a gender reveal party...
The theme was Rifles vs. Ruffles and the following clip arts are what i found on-line:
With these two guys I printed out one they could put their name on and add to a poster board to display their guess and a second one that I glued to a clothes pin so everyone could easily see which team they were on. (Don't have a picture unfortunately)
The Food!
My husband and I love throwing parties with LOTS of food choices.. So we had the following options:
Chocolate covered almonds (Nuts) vs. Chocolate covered raisins (No Nuts)
Mini "Baby" Bell cheese Blue vs. Red
Bouncing Blue Punch vs. Pretty Pink Lemonade (with Ice Ice Baby)
Blue and Pink dinner mints
Chips and Guac.
And who knows what else!!
Oh and the cake... but we'll get to that later....
Games!
I got most of my ideas from: this blogOld Wives Tales-- For the first game I had everyone fill out an Old Wives Tales quiz the first three people to get 7 out of ten correct won a prize. The Prizes included Dad's Root Beer, Baby Bottle Pop, Dad's red cream Soda, and Sugar Babies.
Name Challenge-- Next we split up Rifles vs. Ruffles and came up with 10 baby names all starting with the letter H for Hurst. When we came back together the team got a point for each unique name that the other team did not have.
Bottle Drinking contest--- This proved to be one of the best and most challenging games. I got two bottles (one pink one blue of course) and put in some milk.... I didn't fill it all the way because I didn't want to be there all night. The first to finish their bottle won. It was a very close match!!
Nursery Rhyme Scavenger Hunt-- Finally we went on a scavenger hunt. The winners got a HErSHEy's Bar. The clues were all made from Nursery Rhymes as follows:
1. Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pale of water. (led to the water spicket on the side of the house)
2. Rock-a-bye
baby on the tree tops. When the wind
blows the cradle will rock. (led to our tree house outside)
3. Pat-a-cake,
Pat-a-cake, bakers man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can. Roll it up. Pat it
up and Mark it with a “B”. Put it in the
oven for baby and me. (the rack under the oven)
4. Humpty
Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty
had a great fall. (the retaining wall near our driveway)
5.A-tisket
a-tasket a green a yellow basket. I
wrote a letter to my love and on the way I dropped it. (a green and yellow basket that had the rifles and ruffles name pins in them)
6. A
tutor who tooted the flute, tried to
tutor two tooters to toot. Said the two to the tutor, “Is it
tougher to toot or to tutor two tooters to toot?” (behind the toilet)
7. Old Mother Goose, When she wanted to wander, would ride through the air on a very fine gander. Jack’s mother came in, And caught the goose soon, And mounting its back, flew up to the moon. (had to come to me to get their prize!! )
THE BIG REVEAL
For the reveal I made a blueberry layered cake and died the inside blue.
Everything turned out great and was tons of fun!!! Like I said earlier if you are expecting you should TOTALLY have a gender reveal party!!!
